If I opened a bar for New York sports fans in your city would it do well?

About the same as a Boston sports bar in NY. Are there NY sports fans in Boston - yes. There are bars in the Boston area that cater to NY fans, but I don't happen to know which ones they are. I only know this because a friend of friend who is a Yankee fan (transplanted NYer) told me about it.
I work with a guy who is a big Giants fan - he proudly wore his Giants stuff to work the day after the superbowl.
